SPT has formally launched a new MyBus online booking service.
MyBus is a SPT service for people who live in remote areas or who live with a disability or find accessing public transport difficult. SPT hopes that the introduction of an online facility will make booking a bus a lot easier for customers.
SPT Chair Jonathan Findlay was joined by Keith Brown, Scotland’s Minister for Housing and Transport to launch the new service at an event in George Square.
Mr Findlay said: “I am positive that the MyBus web booking service will be extremely popular with our current and future passengers as it really is a simple way to book this great door to door bus service.
“Getting around can be a real strain both financially and physically. MyBus is open to many people and customers might not realise that the service is not just for the elderly, or for those living in rural areas poorly served by public transport.
“It’s much more than that. If you have a temporary disability, like a broken leg, MyBus could be the answer for you and it’s only a click or a phone call away.”
This is clearly a vital and successful initiative that is making a real difference by ensuring accessible services are available to the communities it serves.

The Transport Minister was also shown how easy it is to navigate the SPT website and make a MyBus booking.
He said: “I was delighted to have the opportunity to visit Glasgow and launch this new service which builds on the success of the current MyBus phone booking system.
“This is clearly a vital and successful initiative that is making a real difference by ensuring accessible services are available to the communities it serves.”
The online service allows MyBus users to book trips at a time which is most convenient to them and is available Monday to Sunday.
It is easy to use and all a MyBus user needs to do to book a trip is go to SPT’s website to select the time, date and location of their journey.
The MyBus phone booking service will continue to operate as normal but this new online system also allows scheduled trips to be reviewed or cancelled outside normal operating hours.
SPT’s MyBus online booking system has been supported by £9,810 of match funding from North European partners in the Interreg IVB ICMA project which is designed to enhance public transport. The total cost is £19,620.
