East Dunbartonshire Council’s representative for the Strathclyde Partnership for Transport, Councillor Alan Moir, has hailed the significant investment by SPT for the continuation of service 84 which provides “vital” links for residents of Twechar.
The contract for service 84 was renewed in July this year by SPT, and will be operated by McColl’s Coaches using a new fuel efficient vehicle which will offer improved reliability and comfort. Service 84 provides an hourly daily service between Twechar and Kirkintilloch and ensures commuters have access to essential links between these communities.
Councillor Moir said:
“SPT is stepping in to deliver vital services at a time when commercial bus companies are withdrawing them. Service 84 is a key link for the community, providing access to education, employment and social opportunities.”
