Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is again running its popular Kids Go Free offer during the winter school break (24 December – 6 January).
Every child under 16 – accompanied by a full fare-paying adult – can travel on the Subway for free, all day.
The Subway really is the best way to travel to the city centre, especially at this time of year, when trying to find a parking space can be a real headache for Christmas shoppers.”
SPT Chairman George Redmond
The Subway is the easiest way to get in and out of the city centre and, with so much on offer for families this festive period, including Scotland’s best-loved pantomime at the King’s Theatre, Glasgow On Ice in George Square and wonderful Christmas markets – there’s never been a better time to make the most of Kids Go Free.
SPT Chairman George Redmond said:
“After the popularity of our last Kids Go Free offer in summer, I’m delighted we can repeat it over the festive season and offer families a quick, hassle-free and inexpensive way of getting into the heart of the city. As well as taking the pressure off mums and dads, the added bonus is kids love getting on the Subway for a wee shoogle.
“The Subway really is the best way to travel to the city centre, especially at this time of year, when trying to find a parking space can be a real headache for Christmas shoppers.”
SPT has also teamed up with the Kings Theatre, to offer a £5 discount on tickets to this year’s Christmas pantomime, Cinderella. Passengers can claim this great offer by showing a valid Subway ticket at the King’s Box Office (show included in the offer are Thursday 7pm & Saturday 10.30am, price bands A – D excludes 24 Dec)
Subway passengers can also take advantage of another skate offer at Glasgow on Ice at George Square, where children can skate for free at off-peak times. A child can skate free with a full paying adult by showing a valid Subway ticket at the ticket desk.
And for families with young children, the Scottish Youth Theatre interactive show for early years is offering £5 tickets for 4pm shows between 30 November – 21 December. Passengers just need to show their tickets when booking.
Mr Redmond added:
“There’s a huge range of events on at this time of year, and I’m delighted that SPT is able to help families make the most of them.
“By offering these discounts to passengers during Kids Go Free season, we’re increasing access to the best Glasgow has to offer – and hopefully spreading the festive spirit as well.”
