The Games are here!

Clyde at North Ayrshire Baton Relay.

After all the years of hard work, the planning – and let’s not forget the athletes, the training – Commonwealth Games 2014 is finally with us.

Are you excited? We are!

The Games also means more people travelling around the city: More visitors; busier trains; fuller buses.

To help meet travel demand during the Games, the Glasgow Subway is opening longer and later than ever before for the two key weekends of the Games: from 6am to 1am on July 26 & 27 and August 2 & 3. More information is available on our Games timetables page.

SPT is also running shuttle buses between Buchanan Bus Station and the Games venues, to make sure those with tickets don’t miss any of the action.

Provided and operated by First Games Transport, shuttle buses are scheduled to leave every five minutes from stances 23-32 and will typically begin operation 2-3 hours before the following events, returning in the hour after the event:

  • Celtic Park for Opening Ceremony on the 23 July
  • Hampden Park for Athletics between 27 July and 2 August
  • Ibrox Stadium for Rugby 7s on 26 and 27 July
  • Hampden Park for Closing Ceremony on the 3 August

We’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a fabulous Games. Let’s show the world what Glasgow can do!
