The Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run, Scotland’s largest race, takes place on Sunday 5 October and the Subway will be up and running earlier than usual to ensure you reach the start line on time.

Stations will open at 7am with the first trains leaving city centre stations at 7.30am, and operating an eight minute service.

Last year a record 30,000 people took part in the Run, which includes a 10K and half marathon. For those taking part, if you’re not overwhelmed by exhaustion (big ‘if’), both routes offer a spectacular tour of the city and its highlights.

Races leave George Square before heading up St Vincent Street, over the Kingston Bridge before eventually winding up at Glasgow Green. For full info on start times visit the Great Scottish Run website.

Event organisers have also pulled out all the stops to make the running challenge as pleasant as possible. Regular Strathmore water stations are dotted along both routes and the spectator friendly race guarantees that there will be plenty of positivity coming from the cheering crowds on the side lines.

Online registrations are closed however you can register in person, details are on the Great Scottish Run website.

Good luck everyone!
