Dippy stops off in Glasgow!

The time has come for Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum to host the amazing Dippy On Tour. The eagerly awaited Dippy on Tour: A Natural History Adventure opens today (Tuesday 22 January) and will run until 6 May 2019. Admission is free and you do not require a ticket to visit, although people are being asked to leave a little extra time to see Dippy, especially at weekends and during school holidays.

After making the journey all the way from Ulster Museum, Belfast, where he met over 132,000 dinosaur enthusiasts, Dippy will take pride of place in Kelvingrove’s main hall for all visitors to see. Never before on public display outside of London, Kelvingrove Museum is the only Scottish destination on the tour that has already delighted record-breaking numbers of visitors at three previous venues across the UK. The full skeleton in its displayed pose is an impressive 21.3 metres long, 4.3 metres wide and 4.25 metres high.

If you’re heading along to meet the world famous Dippy, make sure to hop on the Subway! With a short journey time from the city centre to the west end and, you’ll be ready to explore Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and learn all about Dippy the Diplodocus quicker than you may think. Don’t forget to travel with your Smartcard, a return journey will cost you just £2.90. Simply alight at our Kelvinhall station and then it’s just a short walk until you arrive at Kelvingrove, where Dippy will be waiting to greet you! Plan your adventure today.
