The first ever Dragon Boat Race will take place on the River Clyde on Sunday 22nd September as a brand new addition to the Clydebuilt Festival programme. The Clydebuilt Festival runs over two days, 21st and 22nd September, and brings life to the River Clyde celebrating Glasgow’s unique maritime heritage with colour, activity and lots of boats!

Our Partick Subway station is just a short walk from the venue at The Tall Ship, it’s ideal if you fancy leaving the car at home. Simply hop on the Subway and you’ll be there in no time!

With no experience needed dragon boat racing is the ultimate accessible sport and perfect for team building and fundraising. Teams are made up of 10 paddlers and a drummer (squads of 11 – 15 racers recommended!) Each team will race a minimum of three times, with your slowest time disregarded (practice makes perfect after all!) and the fastest times will go through to the semi-finals and then the Grand Finale to battle it out to become the overall winning team!

While not on the water, racing teams can enjoy the rich festival programme which includes live music, delicious street food, licensed bars, Festival of the Sea, the Clydebuilt Market, and performances aboard the Tall Ship. Keep the kids entertained with craft activities and storytelling!

The Tall Ship and The GalGael Trust will host the Clydebuilt Festival for a third year with ambitious plans for their festival next year to celebrate the Year of Coasts and Waters 2020 #YCW2020

The Clydebuilt festival is free to enter and has a variety of activities for all to try – both on-shore and on the water! Opening hours are Saturday 21st from 10am – 11pm and Sunday 22nd 10am – 8pm.
