Buchanan Bus Station had a visit from top ice hockey team Braehead Clan to help promote Strathclyde Partnership for Transport’s free JourneyShare scheme.
SPT JourneyShare, one of the fastest growing car sharing schemes in Scotland with over 3,000 registered users, recently teamed up with the Clan to promote the initiative to fans of the west of Scotland’s only top flight team.
SPT Travel Planner Clare Strain said: “I am delighted with this exciting opportunity for SPT and the Braehead Clan to promote JourneyShare to a wider audience.
“Clan fans who regularly attend the games will be amazed to see how much money they can save as the average car sharer saves £800 a year.
“As many Clan fans come from all over west and central Scotland to follow their team there is potential for these fans to save a fortune.
“SPT and the Clan are urging fans to consider car sharing when following the team as the savings are fantastic and each car sharer is also doing its bit for the environment.
“I would like to thank the Clan players for taking time out from their training schedule to help promote SPT’s free JourneyShare scheme and wish them all the best for the upcoming season.”
As well as cutting down on petrol costs, car sharers prevent wear and tear on their vehicles and reduce the mileage on their cars which adds to any resale value.
There are environmental benefits such as a decrease in car congestion and cutting carbon emissions – reducing a car’s mileage by just 100 miles a week would be the equivalent of offsetting 21 trees.
Car sharing also allows registered users to meet new people.
