A contract will secure the link between Giffnock, Orchard Park and Thornliebank for three years.
Contract secures bus service
July 2, 2009 NewsA bus service for people living in Glasgow and East Renfrewshire council areas has been secured by SPT.
The recent withdrawal of Service 29 between Mansewood and Silverburn via Orchard Park Avenue and Thornliebank resulted in a gap in the bus network. During the interim period SPT funded a temporary contract for the route.
Now a new longer term contract to maintain the bus link between Giffnock, Orchard Park and Thornliebank has been awarded to Colchri Coaches at a cost of £195,840 over a three-year period.
The timetable provides an hourly service from 10:00 until 17:00, Monday to Saturday.
SPT Chair Alistair Watson said: "Today's decision is great news for people living in these areas. I am pleased this important local transport link will continue.
"If it wasn't for SPT providing funding to bridge the gaps in bus service provision across the region, some people would be left without access to public transport."
SPT currently subsidises dozens of local bus services across west central Scotland which are vital to communities, but not provided by private operators.
Timetable details for all bus services are available on the Traveline website and on 0871 200 22 33.
