SPT's 5th Annual Travel Planning Seminar
We are holding our fifth Travel Planning Seminar on 18 February 2010 at the Teacher Building, St Enoch Square, Glasgow.
The theme of this year's Seminar is Creating Change - how organisations can incorporate the Travel Plan into their organisational policies and strategies to encourage modal shift, which will help reduce travel costs, cut their carbon footprint and improve staff retention.
The seminar will provide delegates with practical advice and information, as well as innovative ideas to promote, develop and implement Travel Plan measures in such a way that will motivate staff and encourage participation.
The seminar is free of charge and is for individuals who are involved in travel planning, marketing and transport from both the public and private sector including local authorities, businesses, retail parks, shopping centres, universities, colleges and Health Boards.

SPT's Travel Plan Event 27 March 2009

SPT's fourth annual Travel Plan event has been hailed a great success, with all of the 75 delegates saying they would be interested in attending a similar event in the future.
A wide range of organisations including colleges, universities, shopping centres, small, medium and large private companies, health boards and other public sector bodies sent delegates to the conference.
The event helped delegates to share experiences and use best practice to move travel planning forward.
Professor Tom Rye, of Edinburgh Napier University, opened proceedings with an enthusiastic talk about the importance of creating productive partnerships.
Clare Hamilton Sturdy, of Fife Council, shared her experiences of successfully introducing car parking control measures that include designated spaces for car share drivers.
Annabel Beattie, of South Ayrshire Council, presented a case study to highlight the benefits of partnership working between the three Ayrshire councils, NHS Ayrshire and Arran and SPT.
All speakers stimulated discussion and gave delegates food for thought about the next steps on the travel planning journey.
Four workshops, led by guest speakers looked at specific actions to be taken to move travel planning forward to the next level:
- Creating policy change within your organisation;
- Using social marketing to change behaviour;
- Working together to improve communication;
- Cutting car use through car park management schemes.
Our survey found that 92% of delegates believed the conference stimulated new ideas and the central position of the venue made it easy for delegates to reach by public transport.
