Travel Plan Builder
Use our Travel Plan Builder site to develop sustainable travel solutions for your organisation.
The SPT Travel Plan Builder website has been developed to help devise sustainable travel solutions for small, medium or large organisations.
A Travel Plan is a package of measures and policies developed by an employer to encourage staff to travel to work using sustainable transport modes and to reduce reliance on the car, especially single occupancy car use.
The Travel Plan promotes the use of public transport, car sharing and active travel (walking and cycling).
To implement and develop a Travel Plan successfully, a document containing the organisation's Travel Plan aims, objectives, targets, measures and monitoring strategy is required.
However, to the uninitiated, this can be quite a daunting process.
SPT and the Workplace Travel Plan Company have developed the Travel Plan Builder to dispel any confusion and uncertainty by breaking down the Travel Plan process into a logical sequence of steps.
1. Audit
What currently exists on site and about your staff?
2. Performance
Identifying objectives and targets.
3. Measures
What needs to be done to help change travel behaviour?
4. Marketing
Selling the Travel Plan.
5. Action Plan
Who does what and by when.
The Travel Plan Builder explains the Travel Plan process and through a series of questions guides the user through these steps. At the end of the process it produces a pdf Travel Plan document. The site also produces an Action Plan which highlights who is responsible for the implementation of each of the identified actions and the agreed timescale to implement the action.
Practical information, advice and best practice regarding sustainable travel and the Travel Plan process can also be found on the site.
