Change to Strathclyde Concessionary Travel Scheme Fares

Written by SPT 31/03/2017

The Strathclyde Concessionary Travel Scheme (SCTS) Joint Committee agreed an increase in basic concessionary fares in 2017/18.This is the first increase to concessionary fares in four years, despite the fares of the majority of transport providers increasing annually. The concession fare continues to provide excellent travel discounts for single and return fares throughout Strathclyde on rail, ferry and Subway.

The changes will see a 10p increase to the basic concession fare. Ferry journeys over 10 nautical miles will continue to pay twice the basic concession fare. Rail journeys over 10 miles will continue to pay half the standard fare.

The Strathclyde Concessionary Travel Scheme is funded directly by the local authorities who have seen cuts to their funding and face on-going financial pressures.

This small increase in concessionary fares is required to ensure the scheme is affordable and continues to meet the high levels of demand for concessionary travel.

The fare increases come into effect from Monday 3 April 2017.
