Subway fares are set to increase by 5p for an Adult Single journey and 10p for an Adult Return fare. There will also be a 20p increase to All-Day Park and Ride. This is the first increase in fares since 2014/15 approved by the SPT Partnership Board.

Passengers choosing to make use of SPT’s Smartcard continue to enjoy the best price proposition saving 20p for each single journey and are able to use their Smartcard all day for as many trips as they wish for a maximum charge of £2.80.

There will be no increase in child fares. All our Season Ticket prices remain unchanged and continue to provide excellent value for money.

SPT Chief Executive Gordon Maclennan said: “This is the first increase in some Subway fares for three years. There is no increase to our season ticket prices which continue to offer excellent value for money to regular Subway users and all remain at the current level."

“We will continue to explore new product and ticket types which help meet the needs and demands of our passengers, as well as continuing to develop more Smartcard integrated options to help those who use more than one mode of transport regularly to get around.”

SPT has been at the forefront of Smart ticketing developments, working with other transport providers to offer more joined up journeys.

At the end of last year, SPT launched its web retail service for Smartcard holders who can now buy their Subway season product or top-up online wherever and whenever it is most convenient for them.

The increases come into effect from Monday 3 April 2017.

Also on this date, concessionary fares across the Strathclyde area for local rail, subway and ferry trips* will increase to £1 for a single journey, £1.40 return following a review by the joint committee of the Strathclyde Concessionary Travel Scheme.
