SPT's #SummerOfMusic winner

Written by SPT 26/06/2018

SPT & Glasgow Subway's #SummerOfMusic returned and it proved to be bigger and better than ever! Kicking off with some exciting news, a collaboration with TRNSMT Festival and Capital Scotland and the fantastic prize of playing an acoustic set at TRNSMT Festival, #SummerOfMusic highlighted some of the talented performers we have in and around the city of Glasgow.

Before the winner was chosen to play an acoustic set at TRNSMT Festival, the performers were narrowed down to 16 who had the opportunity to battle it out, playing their sets in Glasgow Subway's stations with the crowds cheering on their favourites. Across the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of June, from 4-6pm, the chosen musicians performed to Subway crowds in our Partick, St. Enoch and Buchanan Street stations. From rock to blues, covers to original work and solo performers to bands, the #SummerOfMusic finalists brought something unique and exciting with each performance.

The finalist performers were:

Gordon Airlie
Ben Monteith
The Borrowed Blues
Tommy McGuire
Zoee
Megan D
Dylan Dickson
Conor McCarry
Conor Ferraioli
Betatone Distraction
Man of the Minch
Emma Brockett
Tom Vevers

In addition to the excellent music on show, Glasgow Subway's partners at Capital Radio were in station to give five very lucky Subway customers an extra surprise – tickets to attend the TRNSMT Festival! Congratulations to Hayley Ritchie, Harry Mawby, Finton McCloskey, Sophie Shand and Tommy McGlynn, who will be going along to TRNSMT Festival for FREE!

Deciding upon a winner was no easy feat as the level of talent from the finalists was brilliant. After much deliberation, Glasgow Subway are absolutely delighted to announce that the winner of #SummerOfMusic competition and performing an acoustic set at TRNSMT Festival is…

Man of the Minch!

Congratulations!

Man of the Minch will be performing an acoustic set at TRNSMT Festival on Saturday 30th June on the hotels.com stage.

If you're going along to TRNSMT Festival this weekend, make sure to head over to see Man of the Minch and give him your support.
