SPT supports TRNSMT festival

Written by SPT 20/06/2017

St Enoch Subway station played host to an impromptu gig on Friday when one of Scotland’s top rock acts, Twin Atlantic, played a very special acoustic gig on the concourse surprising lunchtime commuters and delighting their many fans.

The event was devised and planned by Utilita Energy, a key partner of TRNSMT, working with SPT’s Marketing team.

Speaking before the gig, Twin Atlantic’s lead singer Sam McTrusty said: “We are looking forward to this unique performance – in a location we all know well – the Glasgow Subway. It’ll be a flavour of what we can expect for TRNSMT next month and great to see our home town fans up close.”

Head of Marketing & Communications at Utilita Energy Jem Maidment said: “We’re excited to bring one of Scotland’s top music acts, Twin Atlantic, to the Glasgow public in this busy central location – thanks to Glasgow Subway for making it possible.”

SPT Senior Director Charlie Hoskins said: “We are delighted to have Twin Atlantic playing in our fantastic city centre station at St Enoch.  We’ve long thought that the concourse there would be an ideal venue and when the opportunity came up to work with TRNSMT, we couldn’t say no.

"We have a long history of supporting major events happening in the city and transporting passengers whether music lovers or sporting fans, locals or visitors, to various venues and many top attractions across Glasgow.”

The gig at St Enoch’s also raised cash for the We Heart Manchester Emergency Fund with the Red Cross, after the recent terrorist atrocity in the city.  Donations raised £352.45 on the day with Utilita Energy agreeing to match this.  SPT has agreed to make up the difference to ensure £1000 will now go to the Fund.

The TRNSMT festival is Scotland’s newest and freshest music festival and takes place at Glasgow Green from 7 to 9 July with headline performances from Radiohead, Kasabian and Biffy Clyro. The 1975, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Belle & Sebastian, London Grammar, George Ezra, Two Door Cinema Club, Twin Atlantic,  The Kooks, Blossoms, Rag‘n’Bone Man, Circa Waves and many more.
