Subsidised bus services

Dial-a-Bus

Dial-a-Bus is a demand-responsive service for passengers who have difficulty using public transport. SPT operates 34 wheelchair-accessible buses that pick up elderly, infirm or disabled people from their homes and provide them with transport.

Ring'n'Ride

Ring'n'Ride is a demand-responsive bus service for people who live in rural areas with no other public transport links. The service provides direct links between specific rural areas, and also from rural areas to town centres. SPT currently operates nine Ring'n'Ride services.

SPT owns and manages Buchanan bus station in Glasgow, the largest bus station in Scotland, serving around 30,000 passengers per day. This section contains useful information for passengers and bus operators.

Bus shelters and bus stops

SPT is directly responsible for the maintenance of nearly 11,000 bus stops and over 1,800 bus shelters. We also provide over 13,000 information cases for operators' timetables. You can help us by letting us know if you see damaged or defective bus stops or shelters.

School transport

Every day, SPT is responsible for transporting 49,000 pupils to and from school. We manage school bus contracts on behalf of 11 constituent councils.
